Can't Change Favorites Location

I'm trying to change the location of IE Favorites but I can't seem to get
it to work.
In regedit I navigate to HKEY CURRENT USER ....\Explorer\User Shell Folders
and modify the path to Favorites but it reverts back to the default.
Any ideas?

Close all open Internet Explorer windows and use TweakUI for Windows XP to change it.

TweakUI is available from

That's because setting the folders by simply changing the registry is an unofficial, and unsupported way to do it:

Setting it with TweakUI calls the proper API function rather than just changing the registry values.

Oh, and don't forget to reboot, or at least log off/on.
