I'm trying to capture from the camcorder..
when i click start capture, the camcoder plays - it looks fine, however,
video capture is 0sec & 0kb, press finish- and of course nothing is captured.
Press ok, WMM says video device is not responding properly. i've got a
sony pc330, connected to the 1394 firewire port, worked b4- but not now,
anyone help me out?

Cheers
Alistair.

Could be a problem with the IEEE cable or card.
To troubleshoot this I recommend going to your local computer store and
trying the camera on one of their machines with your cable.
If it works then the problem could be your card.
If it doesn't then try it with a new cable and it will likely work meaning
your cable is bad.
If it still doesn't work then the port on the camera could be the problem
although this is rare.

....but i see the video on the screen, which means it must be going from my
camcoder to the computer, for some reason WMM is not capturing it..could WMM
be corrupt?

Oops sorry, I missed that part. Although it still "could" be a cable
problem.
How are you capturing? Manual or automatic?
It could be a problem with WMM itself this issue is one I haven't seen
before.
If it worked recently but now doesn't try doing a system restore to see if
that fixes the problem.

....it was captured manually...there's been no system changes, so a restore
wouldn't do anything... can i uninstall & reinstall it?

Wojo - You have been helpful for Alistair...having a similar
problem...perhaps you can help me, too. I put in video in January...can't do
it now. I get a message saying "a video capture device was not
detected...verify that a video device is turned on and connected properly and
try again" I am using a USB connection with my Panasonic Palmcorder as I did
in January and haven't done anything else differently. Have any ideas? Have
talked to Panasonic people the last 3 days and no help from them. ARGHHHHH!
I have to get this project done. Thanks if you can help.

Unfortunately the only way to do that is to either uninstall and reinstall
SP2 or to install SP2 over itself.

Hi Kate,
I personally don't like using the USB connection for video capture but if
you have no other options then you have no other options.
Are you using the same USB cable as you used in January?
If it is a different one try swapping the cable. If it is the same one it
still could be the cable so try swapping anyway if you have another or go to
your local computer store and try your cable and then a new one on one of
their computers.

Is the camera recognized by XP when you plug it in?
In other words do you get the little sound that tells you the connection was
recognized followed by a bubble and icon saying it is safe to remove your
hardware?
If not then it could be either a bad USB port or driver.
Try a different USB port to see if that works.
If not go to Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager and see if it shows
an error for the USB driver.

If none of this works post back and we can look deeper.
