Recently, I bought Sony miniDV camcorder and tried it on
my computer using firewire....Ulead, MM2 and some software
that comes with Sony. Everething was perfect - picture,
quality and bla-bla-bla.
My system is ATI Radeon7500, firewire with NEC chipset, P4-
1.6.
Then I reinstall WinXPPro and every video software
including WMM2 freeze when I try to capture (Ulead VS7 for
example after 30 minutes gives something like "...failed
to build preview graph...". I tried different version of
video drivers (ATI Radeon7500), I did whole updates from
microsoft website (including DirectX9). I tried to
use "PapaJohn" advices also. HEEEELP!

I did all that stuff:(. I found now only one thing,
Microsoft did something terrible in DirectX9b (it couse
freezzing on my machine - but it is not for everyone) so
they gonna develop a patch for DirectX9, and I have to
wait.

does anybody knows about this issue?

I am such a novice, but the thing that caught my
attention is the fact that you reinstalled XP Pro after
you installed and used your camera, software, etc. I have
XP pro and when using firewire and DV camera, everything
works great. My suggestion would be to uninstall
everything having to do with the camera and capturing,
then reinstall them and see if that helps.

YES! I found the problem. After reinstalling WindowsXPpro by default it sets my HardDrives to PIO mode, so I have to do reboots to change it to UDMA and everything works perfectly right now

BIG,BIG,BIG thanks to papajohn website! PAPAJOHN RULES!, but since I read a lot about different kind of problems with capturing from that site now I feel nervous, what if other problem from that site will happen with me (it is like reading different disease symptoms - you begin realizing that you have a lot of them yourself

Thanks.... I know what you mean. It's always better to be adding solutions
such as yours.... it's on the Setup > Hardware page.
