Can't Bypass Startup Options

Not wanting to take any chances that my wife would "accidentally" screw up
the database I'd just spent the weekend building for her work, I went into
Tools>Startup... and turned all the menus off. I opened the file normally
and it worked fine, no menus. I then closed the database and opened it
again, this time holding down the Shift key to bypass the Startup options
I'd just set. Everything opened, menus and all, just like it was supposed
to.

Because the file was confidential, I added a password. The password feature
works fine, but now I can't bypass the startup options. It's like adding the
password suppressed the bypass function. Now I can't get it to open WITH
menus so I can't undo the bypass / password options. How do I get around
this?

(I guess my wife isn't the only one that can "accidentally" screw up a
database.)

TIA

Answered my own question:

The problem was I was holding down the Shift key during the file
double-click, which works fine as long as you don't have a password enabled.
If you do, holding down the Shift key while pressing the OK button on the
password dialog box bypasses the startup options. Just a matter of timing...
and brains! :)

From one who knows, *ALWAYS* keep an un-secured copy of *every* database.

You'll thank yourself someday.
