Can't bypass Macro Security in Access 2003

I have some databases that were made in Access 2000 and
2002. When I upgraded to Access 2003 I started seeing the
dialog warning the user that the database potentially
contained harmful macros.

In the help text it states that I can eliminate the
dialogs by setting macro security to "low" (which I'd like
to do on my development machine - I'll probably use
digital signatures on my production code). However, I do
not have the menu item referenced in the help text to set
the Macro Security Level. The text refers me to the
Tools/Macro menu and says that I should see a "Security"
menu item (or tab). I don't seem to have this menu option
on my system.

Any help is appreciated.

You probably need to reset your menus. Right-click on the menu bar, select
customize, select the menu bar from the list, then click reset.

Hello,

Thanks for your post. According to your description, I understand you want
to turn the security warning off via setting the Macro security level.
However, you are unable to find the security command in the menu bar. If I
have misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

I'm including the following methods for your reference.

1. Drag the Security¡ command to the macro submenu.
Tools -> Choose Customize¡ command ->Select Menu Bar in the Toolbars tab
-> Click Properties button Tools in the Categories list box-> Select
Security¡ and drag it to the macro submenu bar.

2. Restore menu bar.
Tools -> Choose Customize¡ command ->Select Menu Bar in the Toolbars tab
-> Click Properties button-> Click Restore Defaults button in the Toolbar
Properties dialog.

3. Call the Security dialog using Macro.
a. Create a new macro.
b. Choose Sendkeys action in the macro design view.
c. Type %TMS in the Keystrokes text box.
d. Run the macro to call the security dialog and set the security level.

Please feel free to post in the group if this solves your problem or if you
would like further assistance on this issue.

This did the trick. Why would it be necessary to do this
after an upgrade? Bug in the install or does the menu for
any old Access applications follow the version that they
were made under (like they were all custom menus).

Thanks again.

Yes you understood my question.

#2 in your reply works (see my reply to the previous
answer), although I think your other suggestions would
have as well.

Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback. The default menu of Access 2003 has
Macro/Security option in it. Based on my experience, it is a known issue
that this security¡ option will miss sometimes after an Access
installation. It may be something wrong with the Office 2003 installation.

I hope the explanation is clear. Please let us know if you need further
assistance on this issue.
