After having put together a number of programmes to be burned as an ISO
image on a CD I dont find any longer my burning programme within Win XP
Home SP2. Before, when I right clicked on the file name I had the
possibility in th menu under Send To to send to the drive with the
burner. No, no entry linked to burning.

I also created an Iso image of the same files and wanted to burn the
image. Rick clicking on the iso file provides me with the menu entry
Copy image to CD and the CD recording wizard starts. The name of the
image file appears but the entry for the recorder is empty. When I click
on the blue space for the name of the recorder there is no entry. And
below the entry a text message logically states No recorder selected.

I guess two possible reasons
- the entries for burning in Win XP have simply disappeared. -> How to
reactivate them ?
- the burner has a physical error.

Any help appreciated

Frank

Configuration:

Win XP Home SP2
Dell Dim 4550, Pentium 4, 2,53 Ghz
256 MB memory
60 GB HD
Burner CR-RW & Reader

Ron,
Thanks for your rapid answer. But unfortunately, this can't bre the
reason as I installed DeepBurner, a freeware which allows burning an iso
image.

Can you burn other files?
Is the burner listed in Device Manager?

The burner , a Samsun CD-R/RW SW 248F, is listed but crossed with a red
cross! Thanks for the hint.

1/ First, I tried to update the driver with the assistant . I clicked on
automated update - which is recommanded . But the assistant only found
that the current driver is the most recent one.

2/ Then I found that the burner is deactivated (code 22) and tried to
activate the burner but Windows was not able to activate it, according
to a message.

Any ideas how to make the burner run ?

I restarted the aformentioned service. Then I right clicked on the .iso
file and started the CD Recording Wizard thru Copy Image to CD. But
again, the CD Recording Wizard shows the source, i.e. the image file,
but the recorder properties icon is greyed out, the entry for the
recorder empty.

Start by checking that the cable connections are tight.
Check if the burner is detected in the Bios.
You may have to uninstall, then reinstall the burner.
