I'm not sure what happened here, but I will try to run
down any changes that have accured....
We switched ISPs, who brought in a new modem/router which
is setup as a DCHP for our network and has address
10.0.0.1. We have a NT server, address 10.0.0.5 that is
basically only used to store some files and run a Lotus
Notes mail server for one user. The server also has it's
own IP address forwarded to 10.0.0.5 for the Lotus Notes.
We then have a NT, 3 2000s, 2 XPs, and misc 2000 and XP
laptops that connect ever so often.
My problem is that after the phone guy switched the lines
over, we have been unable to brower the other computers on
the network. I can ping and connect if I manually type in
the names or IP's of the computers, but I can't "see" the
computers with I go to network neighborhood. However,
today when I was restarting the server I had the network
neighborhood explorer open and while the server was
restarting the computers on the network were coming up one
by one until the server finised restarting and logged back
in....I could even see the server before I logged it
on....???
I'm kinda a newbie with NT server and I'm not sure how it
was configured before, but I'm thinking the server was set
as the DHCP before the new router....maybe??....and maybe
there is now a conflict. So how would I disable this?
Also, is there something else that would be causing this
problem? I called the new phone company and they said that
they didn't change any settings on the router after the
install of the lines.....although, kinda weird that this
happened after the instal....
Any help would be great and if I'm leaving something out
please let me know.
Thanks in advance!!
