I can't boot computer #1. If I remove the hard drive from #1 and make it a slave on computer #2 it shows up as drive (e:) and I can see everything on it just fine. My question to you guys: Is there a way I can fix the drive while it's in computer #2 so that when I put it back in computer #1 it will boot
Thanks in advance for you help
Todd

You can repair it from either, although i would in its ow
enviroment.From its own,install xp cd,boot to cd,repair,press the
enter key for password,then type:CHKDSK C: /R When its thru,type:EXI
FRom the other, run, type:cmd At the curser type:CHKDSK E: /R (E: being the hd
Agree to restart,then type:EXI
Restart computer.

Yea, tried that while the hd was still in computer #1. It still wouldn't boot after I did that. I keep thinking there's got to be an easy answer, but so far it alludes me.
Thanks for responding
Todd

Are you sure the drive is the problem?

I'm pretty sure it is, I lost power the other night and when my computer came back up, it said that the "ntoskrnl.exe" file was corrupt or missing. I expanded the file from the cd into c:\windows\system32. Now it gets past the error message and gets stuck at the XP logo page.

Is there any reason you can't just to a repair install of the OS?
