can't boot up

We had a storm last night, My son uplugged the computer from the power source
but forgot to unplug the phone line. Now windows tries to open but keeps
coming to a black screen that tells us that the softwhere may have been
changed and to highlight one of 4 different options, depending on how the
computer was shut down or lost power. Safe mode is a choice and so is start
from last safe spot and then there is 2 others. It just comes back to this
screen after I have tried all of them. HELP! If this is not the right place
to ask this question please direct me to where I should. Thanks

If none of those options allows you access to Windows, then you will have to
try a 'Repair' install of XP - depending on which kind of XP CD you have.
