Please help me I cannot boot up my laptop.

I'll tell you exactly what it does then you might be able to help.

Turning on the laptop it goes into Windows 98 startup Menu saying warning Windows has detected a registry/configuration error. Choose, Command pronpt only, and run SCANREG

When it goes into the Registry Checker it says

Windows found an error in your system files and was unable to fix the problem. Try deleting some files to free up disk space on your Windows drive. If that doesn't work then you will need to install windows in a new directory.
Entering on that it goes on to say
Registry files not found. Registry might be inoperative for this session.
XMS cache problem. Registry might be inoperative for this session.

It then goes into another screen saying
VFAT Device Initialization Failed
A device or resource required by VFAT is not present or is unavailable. VFAT cannot continue loading.
System halted

I hope this might give you an idea of how to help me.

Try a Windows 98 newsgroup they may be of more help, I hope you have a
start-up disk handy.
