can't apply design template

Hi,

I have no idea why this is not working - I have created a design template
and saved it as a
..pot file - it shows up in the right hand window as a valid template, but
when I click it
to apply to either selected slide or all slides it does nothing. If I do
the same to a 'provided'
..pot file it applies itself fine.

any suggestions? Office XP version.
