can't align fields in database

i have a database that was sent to me (it was created
using access2000 which is what i have) and i cant align
any of the fields. the alignment buttons are greyed out
whether i'm in database view or design view. the file is
not read only. i dont know much about access2000. thanks
for any help.

You can't use alignment on query or table datasheets. Only on forms and
reports.
