Can't add printers anymore

The problem is that printing does not work on my PC
anymore. The Settings-Printers dialog shows no printers,
and when I doubleclick on the Add Printer - icon, nothing
happens, not even an error message is shown. My IT-
department has adviced me to install Win2000 again, but
it's a large job to install all my applications for
developing, so I would be thankful if someone knows a
soluiton for this.

I have tried renaming my local profil and creating a new
profile, but it did not help. Has further tried the System
File Checker utility with my Win2000 professional CD
available, but no change....

The problem is solved!!, but can't surely say what the
medicine was...

Tried several things, first I ran the System File Checker
utilty today, but did not help, then I tried an advice on
this site:
- Stoping and starting the print spooler service

Nothing seemed to work, but then restarted my computer and
the problem seems to be solved...

Torbjørn,

Is the Print Spooler service started? If it is started is it logging on as the LocalSystem? I know you said you tried SFC but
what is the version of the file Printui.dll? Search the %systemroot% folder, normally the WINNT folder, for any .DLL files and
list any found there.
