can't add network printer

I have a small home network. My desktop computer, running
XP Professional, is unable to add a network printer. When
I go to the add a printer wizzard and type in the
printer's IP address, I get a message saying that Windows
can't connect to the printer. I have two laptops, an
Apple Ibook and an IBM Thinkpad running XP Professional,
that are connected wirelessly, and both computers can
print to the network printer.I need helpin adding a
network printer.
