Hi. I've got a problem with adding a local printer on a
couple of machines I'm working with. It has come up
before but I've never figured out a cause or solution.
One machine was recently upgraded from WinNT 4.0 to Win2K
(it had this problem in WinNT and I was hoping it would
get repaired in the upgrade). The other one has WinNT
4.0. If I run the add printer wizard on either one and
select local printer, the system hangs until all my
memory is used up and I have to kill the process or
reboot. I had the task manager open the last time I
tried this and see that the spool service is taking up
all the memory on the system.
Has anyone else seen this and/or know what is going on?

Thanks!

Have you tried to restart the Spooler Service? Sometimes
the spooler gets corrupt and stopping and restarting (NT)
or restarting (w2k) the service helps.
