I bought a new computer with Vista Home 32 bit. When I try to open a
Favorite I get a form that reads, "The target " " of this internet shortcut
is not valid. Go to the Internet Shortcut Properties sheet and make sure the
target is correct."

The Internet Shortcut Properties sheet is missing the tab that shows the url
of the favorite.

Who can help?

The Favorite link file may be damaged or corrupted.

Open up Notepad and open up the link that should be located in Favorites.

Look at the text and see if any of it is damaged or corrupted.

Here’s a partial example of what a good link text should look like:

[DEFAULT]
BASEURL=http://www.december.com/places/mke/books.html
[InternetShortcut]
URL=http://www.december.com/places/mke/books.html
Modified=B0B009ABCDEFGHI….
IconFile=http://www.december.com/favicon.ico

You might be able to repair some of the links with the text editor.

For transferring settings from one computer to the other: Help and Support,
enter “Transfer files.â€

Hope this helps.

Oscar,

Thanks for your reply. My problem is there are no Favorite links. The
Favorite Properties Sheets lack a "Web Documents" page, which is where the
url links are located. I found what I think is a HotFix for the problem at
the Microsoft website, but when I try to install it I get a "error 40"
message that says one of the compressed files can't be unzipped.

Any more ideas?

What's in your Favorites Folder?

C: > user > username > Favorites
