Can't add any new usb hardware

Over the course of time, my usb devices have stopped
working. The latest problem involves trying to install a
new printer. The computer doesn't detect it at all. I
think I found the problem in the FAQ center but the
directions are over a year old and don't match my
system. The instructions were about adding a value in
the Registry Edit USB folder. But I have multiple USB
folders with none being labled "USB" only. Please help.
The devices I'm having problems with are a Logitech
wireless keyboard, a wireless Microsoft intellimouse, and
2 Lexmark printers (x125 and 1110). Thank you.
