If you haven´t used any antispyware program until
now your PC can be messed up with "junk".
You can scan in normal mode and safe mode with MSAS and
then see if you can start your agents.
I would advice you to also follow this.

Step 2 is important I think in almost all PC,s beacuse
within this temporarily folders we have a lot of "junk"
which disturb cleaning processes.
It is also important to clean up a PC with redundant
tools as Adaware when going from a messed up PC to clean
PC.
Don´t forget Windowsupdate and antivirus program,
updated.
