Can't access workgroup with VPN, but can connect

I can't access the workgroup and shared files on a Win XP
Pro machine that I've established a VPN internet
connection with using XP Home. Both computers have
Norton Internet Security, so I suspect that's the
problem, but don't know. What things do I need to look
at/change?
 
Hard to say, i would need more details on how your connection.

Are you saying your connecting to your work network via VPN or the other way
around?
 
I just went through the same problem and I finally got my XP home to talk to my XP pro, first I set the computer connected directly to the internet (XP home) as a host in the network set up wizard, then I enabled simple file sharing in the XP pro machine in the tools/folder options/view (In explorer) and wallaa.
I also ran the network wizard last out of control panel in internet connection and made sure that we all had the same work group
