I have a cable modem connected to a wireless router. I am able to connect to
the internet using XP computers (wired and wireless)

The problem is I am unable to connect using W2K that is wired to the router.
Is there a utility that will hep me setup the networking on th eW2K machine.
Everything I tried required me to dial out but I do not need to dial out.

Please help

As a starting point I recommend you post the output
from the command below when run on the WinXP
and on the Win2000 PC.

ipconfig /all

Thanks. I will do that tonight.

I can ping the router from the W2K machine so I knwo it is getting that far.
I can also log into the rounter admin section from the same pc. It just wont
allow me to go to the internet.

I cant help but think that there is a simple bit of configuration that I
have to do on the PC to allow me to connect without having to dial out. On
the XP PC, I have an option to connect to the internet using my broadband
connection. I do not get that option on the W2K PC - all are for connection
to an ISP using dial up.

What version of IE are you using?
Look in "Connections" in the "Properties" of IE and make sure the "never
dial a connection" box is checked.
