Can't access the file - Outlook 2003

Hi,

On trying to open an email in Outlook 2003, the following message is
returned.

'The file ......pst could not be accessed becuase another workstation has
modified it. Close and then restart all mail-enabled applications.'

No other application was open.

The .pst file is held on a network file share - a Buffalo Linkstation - and
never used to give any problems at all.

Any help gratefully received.

Microsoft do NOT recommend or support using a pst file over a network for
this very reason. The fact that it "never used to give any problems" just
means that you have been VERY lucky.
The answer is to use a local pst file (you DO have backups?) and use a batch
file to copy the pst file to the network drive when Outlook is closed for
backup purposes.

Thank you for your reply.
I'll hold the file locally as you suggest. I do weekly full backups of my
systems (including off-site backups), so that isn't a problem.

Just to follow up, Outlook problems now have ended. All is well with the
file held locally.
