Can't Access Terminal Services Anymore

I have a W2k Small Business Server running with Terminal Services
installed and used to be able to access it externally from a XP Pro
client on another network.

It had been working fine without any problems, then since 9th Sept
2005, I keep getting timeout errrors trying to connect to the SBS
server. I have tried it from different client machines and server on
the external network and no joy but can connect using a laptop
internally.

There arent any firewall issues as far as I know as it worked before
without any problems, but now nothing. Does anyone know why?

Please let me know if there are any more details you wish to know. The
SBS install is a default install with no unusual settings nor have any
been applied since TS was last working.

As a follow up, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the
applications on both the SBS and on the client machines.

Check this out:

898060 - Network connectivity between clients and servers may not
work after the installation of security update MS05-019 or Windows
Server 2003 Service Pack 1

Am using SBS 2000 not SBS 2003.

The internal clients can access the server using TS.

External clients can access the server using TS.

It just seems to be my external network that cant connect using TS,
although was able to to in the past.

Any further ideas?

Yes, I know. But the issue is not limited to 2003, as documented in
the KB article. Do you mean that security update MS05-019 never
existed for SBS?

I have read the KB article, but no changes have been made to our
routers or systems that would prevent just our network from connecting
to the TS.

But the changes are made in the first edition of MS05-019, not in
your routers.

From KB893066:

Security update MS05-019 modifies the way that the affected operating
systems validate the ICMP requests.

If you have applied MS05-019, I would try the workaround, at least to
help identify or rule out this issue as the cause of the problem.

Thanks for your replies.

I have SBS NT 4.5 running on my server and that has problems using TS,
and it doesnt have that patched installed. But I did try the workaround
to no joy...

I have phoned my ISP to ensure there are no filters or IP blocks...

Any other ideas? It is definately something my end and not teh TS end.

I'm sorry, no. I've no experience whatsoever with SBS 4.5
