Can't Access Some Web Sites

Keith Francis

Hi all,
I have a strange problem. I just put together a new computer and loaded
Windows Me with it's Internet Explorer. I find that I can not access some
web sites, but I can others. For example, I need to access both the Kodak
and the HP web sites to download drivers and neither will load. The web
sites can not be found. Instead, I get a web page from
"search.msn.com/dsnerror" saying the web sites can't be found. It then lists
the web site and asks if that is the one I want to access. I can visit lots
of web sites, such as msn.ca, royalbank.com, yahoo.ca, nationalpost.com,
etc. etc.
I don't understand why these two (and there may be others that I don't know
about) sites won't come up for me. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Keith

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.

Parasites will create this file.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
