I have a VPN setup on my NT 4.0 server that works fine. However, I can't
access any of the resources on my W2K server. I get this error message,
"\\server\drive is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the Administrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions." I have added myself as a user on the W2K
server and made myself an administrator, but still can't access the
resources. Am I missing a step or is there more to this?

Thanks,

John

Yes, I can ping the remote server. I'll take a look at the link you sent.

I added both of my servers' IP addresses to the WINS tab in my VPN icon and can now access the W2K server from a laptop dialed up to the Internet. However, the user who needs access, and whose computer is part of a PtP network is still unable (after I had him put in the server IP addresses) to access the W2K server. I thought the problem might be that I used local IP addresses, but when I tried an Internet address on my laptop that is mapped to the W2K server, I was not able to access it. I only have a few ports forwarded on that address to the W2K server. Do I need to forward specific ports or am I on the wrong track?

Thanks again,

John

On the wrong track I think. VPN is Private and Local. The Public IP#s are
meaningless. Use the Private IP#s. Being connected by VPN is the same
principle as being connected right inside the LAN itself on the private
side.
