Can't access one web site

I have an odd problem with IE6. I can't access one specific web site from
one specific computer. The site is www.cardmemberservices.com (a credit card
company), the computer is running XP SP2.

It appears this is due to some low-level IE6 setting (e.g. buffer lengths,
etc.) as other XP computers on the same subnet can access the site. The
problem computer can access everything else OK. I expect people have heard
of this and MS has some KB articles on the problem but don't know the best
search strategy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
First steps: Clear the IE cache and History.

Check for a HOSTS file. Edit or rename the HOSTS file if it's blocking this
site.

From a Cmd window enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear the Temporary Internet Files and restart.

Hi Andrew :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Cannot browse certain websites
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10082

or..

Go to the following and open with Notepad,
C:\WINDOWS\HOSTS (the one with no extension (not the .SAM one)
then delete any listing reference for the site you are trying to open.
Then Save and close.

Also..... try adding the site to your Trusted Zone.

If you have Zone Alarm, you might also check the Trusted area there too:

Hope this helps.

Thanks to yourself and Don. It turned out the MTU setting was too high.
Reducing it to 1100 solved the problem.
