Hi,

For some reason (and I think this just started happening recently), I am unable to access java.sun.com. I get the traditional "Page cannot be displayed" message. I can get to www.sun.com but none of their links to their "java" sites are working either. This seems to be the only site that I cannot access.

I am using IE 6.0 on WIn98. I also disabled my firewall (Zone Alarm) and the problem still exists. I also downloaded and installed Netscape and am having the same problem with it, so I wonder if it is even an IE problem...but I do not know where to turn for help.

I have a second pc running XP and can access all sites from it with no problems, so it seems to be specific to this one Win98 pc.

If anyone has any idea how to fix this I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks!
Andy

Hi Andy - Take a look in C:\Windows and see if you have a file named HOSTS
(it should be all caps with no extension, but it might be lower case - NOT
HOSTS.sam). If so, try renaming this file to NOHOSTS and see if that helps.
If so, take a look in that file with Notepad and search for any entries
containing .sun. in any form. Post back with your results.

The file is hosts (no extension) it could be hidden.

Can you reach the site if your add the http protocol?

Henri...thank you for helping...

All I have is C:Windows\Hosts.sam and C:\Windows\Lmhosts.sam.

I have explorer set to show all hidden files....

I am not sure exactly what you mean by adding the HTTP protocol, but I am
unable to reach the site even thru the links that are on www.java.com .
