Hi,

I am running IE6 SP2 on Windows XP SP2. I find I cannot access any ftp
sites without disabling the Windows XP firewall. Does anyone know of a
setting that will allow me to access ftp from behind the firewall, or is this
just not supported? Is there a way to ensure that the firewall does not
block certain ports? Thanks.

Open IE, click tools, options, click advanced, and find the bit about
passive or PASV and tick or untick it as is required. It may still, really,
not work... You could probably muck about in the firewall settings and get
it to work there but here's an easier method:

FTP Programs:
http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/network/fwftp.html

All free and they even go so far as to scan them for spyware and forced
information disclosure and the likes.
