Can't access files on backup hd

I was having software trouble. I installed a new hd and copied my entire
drive as a backup. Then I formatted and installed a new copy of Windows XP
on the old drive. I thought I could just copy my pictures, music, etc back
to the fresh hardrive. I can't and I get messages like "You do not have
authority to view these files" I have messed up my administration rights
some how. I did change the name of my computer. I am not sure exactly of
the old name but I might be able to find it. Is there a folder in my copied
drive that would have this? How do I unlock my data on the backup hardrive?
Please help!

I am having a similar problem which has been driving me crazy. It
appears that MS may have done something with updates that requires us
to now "take ownership" of new drives and folders!! Check out "How
to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP" (Article ID
308241). I am having serious problems with Drive Image 2002 and
accessing backup "images" to a new drive. I have been getting "Access
denied" messages. I am not quite there yet, but by "taking ownership"
of the new drive, I can at least get access now after following their
proceedure (from Safe Mode). This is certainly a PITA!!

I was too tired last nite to look it up. Is this access problem at
all widespread? I have been using Drive Image 2002 for about 3 years
(always with administrator priviledges) and without any problems.
Suddenly they are telling me that I have to explicitly take ownership
of any second drive on the Primary cable. What gives? I have really
been very happy with DI up to this point and have made over 50 backups
successfully with several test backups also all successful.
