Yesterday, for no apparent reason I am now not able to access my contacts in
Outlook. I can access emails, tasks, notes and calendar but every time I
click on contacts I get a message that Outlook needs to close and it closes
and reboots. When I send an email I can access my contacts through the find
function to address an email and I can see my contacts when I sync with my
blackberry. What could have caused this and what can i do to fix it. I
tried restoring my computer to a date before Yesterday and I tried repairing
Outlook from the Add/Delete program in my control panel. HELP!!!

State your Outlook version, what you mean by "contacts list," how you are
attempting to access your Contacts, and what the precise error and Event
Viewer messages are.
I doubt this happened "all of a sudden for no apparent reason." See if you
can think of some clues as to what happened just before this trouble arose.
Specify your mail account type and information store type.

I am using Microsoft Office XP Professional 2002. In accessing my contacts,
I mean clicking on the icon in the outlook shortcut window on the left side
of the screen. It was working fine around 1 pm on Wednesday and I came back
to the computer around 1:30 and I could no longer access it.

The error message is "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Any ideas? Is there any other way for me to look at or edit my contacts?

Probably. Do you have the answers to the rest of my questions? I still have
no useful information.

My mail account type is verizon.net (Is that what you meant) and I don't know
what you mean by information store type.

That tells me the rest. I would start Outlook once with the /cleanviews
switch. If that doesn't fix it, then I would repair your Outlook data file
with the Inbox Repair Tool.
