What stupid thing am I missing here...I have three machines on a home
network. One of the machines is inaccessable from the other two. The one
that is inaccesable can find all three of the machines going back out. All
have same workgroup, different names, File and Printer Sharing is enabled on
all three, etc, etc. Has always worked fine before and now something is amiss.
I'm sure there is a setting I am missing. A + B can't see C, A + B see
each other, C sees A + B.

Thanks, David Gerard

It always worked fine before what?

Did you run the XP Network Setup Wizard on all machines, did you make sure
that any firewalls including the XP firewall were turned off or otherwise
disabled before running the wizard.

During the wizard, you are asked how this computer connects to the Internet.
An incorrect response will block network activity on that system. Many with
a home network chose the Hub selection and then have this problem, usually
the Gateway selection is the proper selection.

Well I've re-set up my XP-W2K network several times in the past year and
I've NEVER seen a question about Hub or gGteway in the Network Wizard.......

I have no idea the reason why unless the question doesn't apply based on
earlier selections during wizard setup. I've never run the wizard when I
didn't see that question.

Interesting!

Rifleman, when you ran the wizard, what wizard did you run? Did you run the
XP wizard or the wizard from your Win2K setup? Of course, as I said an
difference in response to some earlier selection in the wizard or in your
network setup might be the reason, nonetheless, while there may well be
others who have never seen it, I can't recall posting this wherein someone
said they didn't see that question. I know from my own experience and that
of many others going back to when XP was in beta that particular question
and the user response was an issue in network setup.

It was the XP wizard. Of course I MAY have answered it without "seeing" it!
