Hi
I have been trying for weeks to access a schoolboard website. Keep getting
page cannot be displayed. I can access it on my office computer but not at
home. I have WINXP Home running IE 6 and I use Cable.
No mattere how I try whether by typing in the address or Goggle and then
click on the link or use my Favorites.
It is not aproblem with the site because I know lots of people that access
it on their computers at home.
Any settings or suggestions. I really do need to be able to get to this
site.
Thanks in advance.
My computer is only 5 months old.

-- Disable any types of firewall

HI Ninip,
You shouldn't disable any Firewall, you will be easy prey to
hackers, spammers, and your Computer will be infected with Viruses, try to allow
the website in your Firewall and trusted websites, another thing ,can you
access the website from another PC,and if the website you would like to
access is using Java and your Browser doesn't enable Java you will have
trouble to access the website, but first clear your history and make full Scan
for Adware and Viruses.
here are alink for Avert to scan for Virus

Hi,

Close any instances of Internet Explorer. Click start/run, type cmd and
click ok. From the prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns and hit <enter>. When you
get the message about the revolver cache being successfully flushed, exit
(close) the prompt and retry visiting the web site.

Hi, I had the same problem with a different website. I was able to correct it
by going to h://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813444#appliesto. I troubleshot a
few sugestion and it worked. good luck.

Hi Ninip,

Did treg's suggestion resolve your problem? I am having the exact same
problem you wrote about but am a little nervous deleting my profile. I
would appreciate learning your experience before trying it myself.

Thank you!

Hi treg,

It appears that you have been able to solve your problem. Could you please
tell me how you solved it? I've tried everything I can think of.

Hi "smiley", As I said in the begining I only done a
few of the trouble shooting processes. I did delete tempory files, check date
and time, verified using 128 cryption, and did the cofigure security, content
,and advanced settings; This section was the one which I think did it for me
especialy the secure sockets layer and auto complete history. Follow
directions carefully in one part for example you have to hit the OK button
twice. good luck.

I wanted to let everyone know what was discovered by the IT professionals
that
spent quite a few hours troubleshooting the problem.

Just to recap. There was at least 1 web site that I was unable to load.
Plus I was unable to login to Webmail at my ISP.

The answer was Content Advisor! In Tools | Internet Options | Content.
When that was disabled both sites were able to be accessed.

There is a Microsoft bulletin, 306094, that addresses the issue.

But how on earth would I have ever found it!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply!
