Running windows 98 SE, have IE6 & MSN Messenger 5.0
(5.0.544) instant messaging and on my IE6 when i try to
access pages that require a screen name & password we
get "Page Cannot Be Displayed". When you scroll down to
the bottom of the page in the left hand corner it
says "Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer.
We have searched all over the Knowledge Base pages, done
everything we coould find to try & it still does the same
thing. I have no trouble surfing the web, going to other
sites, just cant access anything that I need to sign in to
with a screen name or password.
On my MSN Instant Messenger it will not allow me to sign
in at all. The message we get is : sign-in name doesn't
exist. Password is incorrect. Passport service is
temporarily unavailable.
Both of these were workin just fine til about 3 days
ago, then all of a sudden they just quit working. Can
anybody please tell us what we need to do to fix the
problem.
I have tried to access the change name & password page
for MSN Messenger, but when I click the accept button it
comes up with the Page Cannot be Displayed, Cannot find
server or DNS Error Internet Explorer.

Sounds like you have a secure web site access problem.
You get the dialogue box that says you're entering a
secure site (unless you've previously checked that you
don't want to see that boxs) but when you click OK it
gives you the "page cannot be displayed" message. I've
got the same problem & it also started about 3-4 days ago
after working fine for over a year. I have made a post
about it. You might try restoring the defaults on the
advanced tab of internet options, making sure SSL 2.0,
SSL 3.0 are checked (they are default settings) but that
didn't do me any good either. I'll try to let you know if
I find something that works.
