I have PowerPoint 2003 installed. I am running Windows XP Pro (SP3) on my
system. I have a 2.5ghz dual core processor, 2gb ram, a HP 1040i DVD burner,
and a Plextor PX-712UF DVD Burner.

After creating a ppt file, when I run the Package for CD option, PowerPoint
does not recognize either of my DVD/CD burners.

I get the following error message: "The files cannot be copied because no
recording device was found. Make sure that a CD recorder is installed on your
computer."

I can create an image file, then run Nero 7 burning software and create a CD
that way.

I have looked throughout PowerPoint Options to see if there is a setting
that is missing, but can find nothing improperly set.

Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem is with PP not recognizing
the drive(s)?

Thanks,

Use the package for CD option, and select the copy to file option, and then
use your Nero to burn the files from that folder to your CD

That is what I have been doing, but I hoped that I could save the extra steps
and burn directly to CD from within PP. There must be a bug in my 2003
version that prevents PP from recognizing that I have a DVD/CD Burner (two
actually) installed.

Thanks for your response

Good suggestion Steve, I'll give that a try. Thanks.

And Ed, I forgot to mention that if this doesn't work you can still package
for CD
but have PPT save the results to a folder, then burn the contents of the
folder to
the root directory of a CD using your normal CD burning software.
