Can't Access Business Contact Manager: MOF File(?)

I can't access my Business Contact Manager. When I start Outlook 2003 on my
XP box, I get a dialog box that tells me there was a problem connecting to
the database engine. Retry, Cancel, or select Help if the problem persists.

The problem persists, so I select 'help'. I follow the instructions for the
"I received a message that stated there was a problem connecting to the
database engine" help option and add myself to the BCMUsers group as
instructed. This doesn't work.

Does anyone have any recommendations from this point? Here are the relevant
entries from the Event Viewer:

The MOF file created for the Outlook service could not be loaded. The error
code returned by the MOF Compiler is contained in the Record Data. Before the
performance counters of this service can be collected by WMI the MOF file
will need to be loaded manually.

The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000034'
while processing the file 'schema.ini' on the volume 'HarddiskVolume2'. It
has stopped monitoring the volume.

I solved this and I can't believe how simple the solution was. Thinking that
maybe some SQL Server-related service wasn't running--I encountered something
else that made me realize that Outlook is using SQL Server drivers these
days--I looked to see if any such services were involved. I found a service
called MSSQL$MICROSOFTBCM (the BCM part at the end clued me in that just
maybe it had something to do with 'Business Contact Manager'). Anyway, it
wasn't running and was set to start manually. I started it, and voila!
problem solved. I've reset it to start automatically, so hopefully the
problem goes away.
