cant acces drives over VPN, with my ususal credentials

We use VPN to our office. We got no DNS, WINS or other TCP settings
from the VPN gateway. So I put these settings in my hosts file.

When I try to map a drive that is on our fileserver it ask me for my
credentials, I try to write them( eg domain\name) but the windows
prompt me that it already tried to log in with these credentials and i
doesnt work. I then try another login name and i works fine. This is
the same with other that try to log on, and when they been prompt to
use another username and password, they can use my credentials with no
problem.

The VPN is a Netscreen, servers are W2k and client XP pro. The
accounts are domain users on the domain.
 
Looks like you are not being authenticated on the network
when you VPN in. Next time you
open your VPN connection, try using domainname\username
and then password for this
account on the network.

Also be sure that whatever server you are trying to access
allows network access to that
machine from the network.

Also, there could be a policy restriction on the network
preventing you from accessing those
resources. Check with your Network Admin to see if that is
the case.

I havent tried yet but I would like to comment.

As i write this is what I do

What policy restriction do you have in mind? If I log on with somone
elses credetials on my computer, i have no problem to access all
resources thru VPN when i write in my usual cred.
