CanoScan LiDE 35

I just got a LiDE 35 scanner and the first impression wasn't too good. I had
to play with brightness, color and other stuff to get the results as good as
possible.
Anybody with comments, please ?
Is CanoScan 3200 or 4200F are better options ?
