Anyone know?

I have a nice old Canoscan FS2710 but all my PC's are now XP!
Is it worth trying to get them to talk to each other, or do I need
something a bit more XP friendly?

I would try to use the W2K drivers that are available on the Canon website.
They should be compatitable with XP.

I guess you haven't checked what drivers are available on the Canon
website. On the UK one there is a single driver for all Win32 systems.

Failing which, the Canon Australia (would you believe) site has driver sets
I just couldn't find elsewhere - after a visit there I finally managed to
get my FS2710 working with XP Home.

Works fine with Viewscan this way.

Good luck!

Thanks Guys!

I hoped someone out there would have the answer.

You are quite right, I hadn't tried the Canon uk download. I had a swift
look round to see if Canon had any specific XP drivers but I thought I
would ask before spending frustrating hours substituting & tinkering to
try and get things working.

Does everything work seamlessly with XP (I have XP Pro) or are there any
other issues?

Thanks

Only point is that - for a while, at least - it wouldn't open from within
Photoshop - works very well with ViewScan, though, with many more controls
than those of the Canoscan app.

So what your are saying is there is a problem with the Twain driver
installation or Photoshop's ability to retrieve the twain driver data
directly into Photoshop?
Vuescan doesn't require Twain drivers to function, but the Canoscan app and
other app's do require the Twain driver to be installed correctly. I would
think the W2K drivers would install in XP with little problem.
