Hi all,
I have a Canon Canoscan 640p which is second-hand, but new to me.
With my ancient (9+ years) desktop, it works just fine -- great in
fact!
But I very recently received a new laptop, as a desktop replacement ...
and it doesn't have a parallel port!
I have a USB docking station, and through it was able to get my 15+
year old parallel printer to run just fine, but it won't work with the
Canoscan.
I keep being told:
"The parallel port may be used by another application.
Error Code: 0x00060800"
Would it help to uninstall the printer? The docking station has only
the one parallel port, but I don't know if that would make a difference
to the scanner ... after all, the desktop only has one parallel port
too, so I connected the scanner to that and printer to the subsidiary
outlet on the back of the scanner and that worked first time ...
Is there ANY way to get the scanner and the laptop to be friends? I
know the scanner is old technology, but it does everything I need it to
do, except work with this new machine!
Thanks!
