CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP?? I CAN SURE USE SOME. IVE USED MM2.1 BEFORE AND HAVE
NOT HAD ANY TROUBLE. I SAVE MY MOVIE IN DV AVI AND THEN TRANSFER THE FILE TO
AV2 USING CANOPUS DV FILE CONVERTER BECAUSE I USE SONY CLICK TO DVD AND I
HAVENT HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE. MY KIDS MOVIES AND SUCH ARE ALWAYS AROUND 3-6 GB
30- 45 MINUTES LONG. THIS TIME I SAVE MY MOVIE IN DV AVI - 6.57 GB, AND THEN
TRY TO CONVERT TO AV2 USING CANOPUS DV AND IT STOPS AROUND 78% - 5.46 GB -
COMPLETE EACH TIME IVE TRIED IT. A WARNING BOX POPS UP SAYING "YOUR
DESTINATION AVI HAS NOT BEEN WRITTEN COMPLETELY. PLEASE VERIFY THE RESULT
BEFORE DELETING THE SOURCE FILE" ANY IDEAS I CAN TRY? DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT
COMPUTERS. THANK YOU. I HAVE A VAIO PCV-RZ 32G COMPUTER. WITH 40+GB LEFT
ON MY D DRIVE. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

Sounds like a problem with the conversion software not with Movie Maker.
As far as I know Click to DVD will accept the DV-AVI file why do you go
through the extra process of converting to AV2 to begin with?

if i use a dv-avi file and not a av2 with click to dvd then no sound comes
out when i create the dvd. the picture is great but no sound. so i read
somewhere in the past, i believe this website that suggested click to dvd
only handles av2 and i needed to convert my av movie to a av2 before i could
burn my dvd. and its worked that way for me for the last year until now.
could there be another reason why click to dvd is missing the sound? the
dv-avi movie with sound is great when i play it on windows media player for
example.

Ahhh, I see. I wish I had, or could even get, Click to DVD to check it out
but it is a Sony only program and is not for sale on the market. I don't buy
computers I build them so I can't check the software out.
As far as the audio problem DV-AVI seems to cause this issue sometimes
during the authoring process and I have never really seen a good solution
for it. The only thing I have found that seems to work, and I don't
understand why it works, is to create your movie in 2 passes. That is what I
do when the issue comes up.
What I mean is to render your movie as a WMV file first.
Then open the original project again and mute the audio.
Then import the WMV file you created and drag that to the AUDIO portion of
the timeline.
Then save as DV-AVI. As I said it doesn't make much sense that this should
work since you are still creating a DV-AVI but it does work, at least for
me, so maybe give that a shot.
Outside of that it still sounds like the issue you are having is with the
Canopus software not with Movie Maker.

thank you, i will try as soon as i can and let you know, away from the
hollidays, thanks again.

THANK YOU GRAHAM FOR YOUR SUGGESTION ON ULEAD CONVERTER. THE AVI FILE
TRANSFERED TO A AVI-2 FILE AND CLICK TO DVD NOW HAD SOUND. BUT THERE IS
STILL A PROBLEM. 18 1/2 MINUTES INTO THE MOVIE THE SOUNDS CLICKS OFF AND
BECOMES JUST NOISE ( LIKE WHEN THE CABLE GOES OUT AND THE LOUD WHITE NOISE
HAPPENS) AND SO I PLAYED IT ON THE WINDOW MEDIA AND IT DOES THE SAME THING.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE HAS ON HOW TO FIX THIS?
THE ORIGINAL AVI FILE PLAYS JUST FINE ON WINDOWS MEDIA.

Can you not use capitals please, as it's very hard to read, and considered
shouting and rude on forums.

Is this the converted avi file which stops playing sound at 18 1/2 mins or
the dvd?
Do you do anything else with the pc while it is making the new file?
Anything like emails, anti-virus, screensaver, etc can stop the flow of
information to the app and cause a problem.

Sorry about that Graham, didnt mean anything by it. the avi 2 file stops
playing music and voice around 18 1/2 minutes into my 30 min movie and turns
to just noise, however the picture stays the same which is great. I imported
the file onto Click to Dvd, and then played it just to make sure the sound
was working, and everything was great, so i skipped to various parts of the
movie just to make sure things were fine and thats when i noticed that 18 1/2
minutes (or so) into it the sound clicked off and became just noise. So i
stopped the process of burning it to the dvd and instead checked to see how
the av2 file worked on windows media. and it did the same thing. The
original av1 file works just fine on windows media.

when i first converted the file to av2, a popup screen did come up half way
through the file conversion so i thought like how you suggested, perhaps
email or screensaver, internet pop up might have messed it up, so i converted
the original av1 file again to av2 and just moved the mouse around
occasionally just to avoid having my computer go into sleep mode, the problem
still occurred though.

Well if the AV1 file works fine I suggest trying to go in a different
direction as converting does sometimes cause these audio anomalies. How
about downloading a free trial DVD Authoring program and using that to
create your DVD? I have a list on of some of the more popular DVD Authoring
programs on my website in the "DVD Programs" section. Most of them offer
free trial downloads that are not crippled and will allow you to make your
DVD. I recommend Ulead Movie Factory as it is easy to use and feature rich.
Ulead DVD workshop2 is even better but the learning curve is higher and if
you decided to keep it the purchase price is MUCH higher. Both products,
along with most of the others listed on my site, do accept AVI (1) and WMV
files.

Your welcome. I'm glad it's all sorted out for you.
I think, if you didn't already, you will decide to purchase the full version
of Movie Factory.
