I'm considering one of Canon's single picoliter printers such as the IP5000
(or the forthcoming IP6600D). For those of you with such a printer have you
had any issues with clogging? TIA

I have no problems with 'clogging' with the ip5000, over 3 months ol
now and not one clog nor manual nozzle clean to date, mind you I'
using Canon ink

You'll find it economical to run and that the printer uses ink no
waste it like the Epson printer I had. Note: the 1pl resolution i
only availbale with the printing media set at 'photo paper pro', th
1pl setting is blanked out and can not be set with anything but 'Phot
paper pro'

I was also dubious about getting the ip5000 after having an Epso
which always clogged and required nozzle cleans - all this with Epso
ink. I had to check each print even text document's with the Cano
I've had 100% prints every time

NOT WITH CANON OEM INK. THE PROBLEM IS WITH AFTERMARKET INK WHERE YOU
DO NOT KNOW WHAT BRAND YOU ARE USING BECAUSE THE VENDOR WILL NOT TELL
YOU. MAKING THINGS WORSE MULTIPLE VENDORS SELL THE SAME CRAP UNDER
DIFFERENT NAMES.

NOW YOU HAVE HEARD IT FROM 2 PEOPLE.

None...and I use only after market inks for the last 10 years. My most
recent Canon printer is an i9900.

You mean people with actual hands on experience (measekites need not
apply). ;-)

Absolutely no issues with clogging with my iP5000. I've had it since
Christmas and I don't use Canon's designer-priced inks (with the pretty
hologram, as someone once stated) that cost almost as much as the
printer itself. I use a combination of more affordable pigmented bulk
black BCI-3e ink, which is ridiculously easy to refill (about 2
minutes), and compatible cartridges (Formulabs brand ink). I've also
tried another brand of compatibles and a set of refill inks with
complete confidence. This 1 pl printer works fine with anything I put
inside. It's no more fussy than your 2 pl printer iP4000. Both the
iP4000 and iP5000 are already discontinued models, replaced by newer
models of about the same quality, but using different cartridges. The
"secret" to not getting clogs is simple: use it once or twice a week.
If you print something only once a month, you're taking a risk
(regardless of the brand ink you use).

The secret must be in their ink formulation. Just as you experienced, my
Epson clogged even with Epson ink.

Same here. I had an Epson Stylus Photo 820 that guzzled ink like a redneck
guzzles beer. I replaced it with a Canon IP3000 and I now spend half as
much on ink, and not a single clogged nozzle in the year that I've owned it.
The Epson clogged constantly. Sure the Canon looks like a toaster oven, but
it's also one of the best printers I ever owned.

At least you can place your latté ontop of it. This didn't work out
too well on the older series.

This guy (inkystinky) has no experience with ip5000 or aftermarket ink.
But he just HAS to let you hear his uninformed opinion! He might as well
be advising you on brain surgery or rocket fuel. He knows nothing, but
doesn't realize it. (and his caps lock key is stuck)

Unknown to inkystinky, you can buy branded, lot numbered and dated
refill ink from alotofthings.com (among other places) that is
ridiculously cheap, works perfectly, and the cartridges are so easy to
refill that only a braindead orangutan would imply that it is any
trouble (as the completely inexperienced inkystinky does).

Note that his forthcoming, caps locked reply will not refer to what I
just said, anymore than his previous replies do.

FINNALLY THAT WHORE AFTER MUCH COMPLAINING CLAIMS TO SELL SENSINENT BULK
INK. BUT NOWHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE DO THEY SAY WHAT IS IN THEIR
PREFILLED CARTS. THATS BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT DISCLOSE THAT INFORMATION.
