I am unable to get the video capture to recognise the video camera. The PC
recognoises the still camera part and I am able to view photos via usb cable.
However I am unable to transfer my video from camera to PC. Any thoughts?

To capture the video you need to use a firewire cable. To check if the pc
has one see here for instructions,

The cam will not come with a firewire cable, so you'll need to buy one,
though check which type is on the pc first, as it may be a 4 pin or 6 pin
connection.
