On win98se my canon bjc-1000 has always worked fine. Now it freezes up the computer, and causes protection fault and other kinds of
errors. I don't know what I might have done to change things (maybe registry cleaning program?)
I've tried reinstalling the same driver and two other updated ones (being careful to uninstall each one before trying the others)
but the problem keeps reoccurring.
I'd hate to have to get rid of it because I've invested in extra printer cartridges for it.
Any ideas where to start?
Thanks in advance
Dale

I have come across the problem of not being able to re-install a
printer driver properly thus displaying the same faults. This is
usuall because the user failed to un-install the old driver properly.
As a work around the registry editing problem, try installing another
make of printer setting it as the default printer, then restart your
computer with the printer disconnected from your computer. This
ensures that when you restart none of the original printers drivers
modules are running or called on when trying to un-installing the
real printer.

After removing you real printers drivers, then restart you computer,
this time follow your printers normal installation procedure. Not
having any of the old drivers modules in memory means they can be
over written when re-installing a new copy, this should get over any
problems with being unable to replace any modules in use.

Other than the above, the only alternative is a long procedure of
editing the registry, not a job for those unfamilure with such work.
