Even though all the right things are enabled in my status monitor on my
Canon i550 it gives me no warning of ink running low or out, and when I
first purchased it a couple of months ago it did.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Richard

It sounds like the optical sensor is either bad or something, maybe spilled
ink or paper chips, has it masked out.

If you were the poster to a previous problem of the printer working
while the status monitor says it isnt, then I would say you have a
driver problem.

Even if you arent, I would still uninstall all traces of the driver
and printer. Unplug the printer from the computer. Reboot and then
install the drivers. Reboot again and then plug in the printer after
you are fully booted. It should detect and install just fine..

Give that a shot anyway. There is nothing to lose. Also download the
latest drivers. Its worth a try.
