Canon S9000 off center prints

This is really irritating. The printer driver appears to have an incorrect
concept of what letter-size (8.5x11") paper is. The "preview before print"
shows the image offset to the left (landscape) or top (portrait) and I
always have to manually move the image maybe 1/8" to center it. I know I
could print borderless and this would probably mask the offset, but prefer
not to.

I've got the latest driver and use Win2K. This does not seem to be an issue
for my b/w laser printer - only the Canon.

Is it me, am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug? I've never heard
anyone else make this complaint. There doesn't seem to be anyway to change
the default margins.

thanks in advance...

Default margins can be set in your application, but if you
want a centred image, you will have to accept larger white
border, it seems. If your application does not allow
setting of default margins, get another application. Some
of the "free" ones that come with the printers are
deficient in this regard.

It should also be possible to set default margins in the
Properties tab of the printer object, but it may be
disguised as Paper Size (I'm not familiar w/ Canons.)

I have the same problem.

Photoshop *knows* what the offsets and printable area are on the S9000;
it gives the right numbers in one of the dialogues, yet when it comes
time to print, the origin is always offset from the upper right corner.
When I want perfectly centered prints, I have to do all the math myself.

Unfortunately, Canon printers are not very good at alighning the paper
in the machine. There is a small variance in where it prints,
regardless of settings.

The Epsons I used to use could print a fine black line pattern on a
sheet of paper, and then print them again right on top of the ink if you
put the same paper in again (no doubling or thickening of lines). Had
to stop using Epson, though, as the Epsons always became unusable after
not being used for a few weeks.
