Hello,
I have a Canon S900, and when I turn it on it flashes one short
orange, one short green, one short orange, and then one long green.
This repeats for as long as I keep the printer on. The computer says
that my printer is connected, but whenever I try to print something, I
just get a message saying printer error, print job deleted. It does
not tell me what the error is, just to check the connection. The
connection is fine and I have even tried different cords. And anyway,
the computer says that it knows the printer is there and ready to use.
What is wrong with the printer?

Thanks,
Caitlin

One thing for sure with Canon printers, alternating orange/green
flashes indicate a service code, as opposed to a consumer code.

Does the driver provide a 4 character error code, e.g. 5C00 or
similar?

Based on iP4000/5000/4200 service manuals, all agree that four
alternating flashes indicate a purge unit error (5C00), and may
require service of the purge unit, or the logic board.

For the S900, the S520 service manual would be needed to definitely
nail down the code.

Do you mean that something would come up on my screen and say something
like 5C00? Nothing comes up, my computer just says that it cannot
communicate with the printer and to check the connections. I guess
I'll have to find a printer repair place to take it too.
