Canon S820D printing woes

My Canon S820D is printing shadow areas with a lurid emerald green cast.
It's especially bad in underexposed background areas of a photo, but
foreground reddish-browns are also badly affected. The appearance is almost
as if the 'negative' of the correct colour is being printed. Lighter colours
and highlight areas are mostly OK, and if I wanted posterisation of the
prints I'd probably be happy. But I don't, and the Canon Europa pages only
seem to deal with obvious problems, nothing like this.

Can anyone suggest what's gone wrong? It's fairly recent and I've changed
all the ink tanks recently.

Well I've been using generic ink -- re-manufactured tanks, not refilling --
for last 8 months without problems. Canon OEM tanks were just too expensive.
Problem has occurred very soon after changing M and PM tanks. Maybe if I try
an OEM magenta tank (I think this is the colour opposite of bright green) it
might cure it.
thanks, Richard

The first question most may ask is, are you now using generic ink or
original ink?

How soon did this problem start after changing the ink tanks?

Just from experience , it sounds like your replacement ink is a bit
off color. Been there done that as many have.

If that is the case, I would buy some original ink If good bulk ink is
not available in a timely manner.

Yep, been there done that.. buy your ink from a reputible place such
as www.inkjetgoodies.com or www.alotofthings.com

Formulalabs ink is highly rated and recommended. If you email
inkjetgoodies.com, they will inform you if Formulalabs ink is in their
generic cartridges.

If its not, do buy the bulk ink. Refilling is not hard at all with
those cartridges and you will be guaranteed top grade ink if you buy
from one of those vendors.. also atlanticinkjet.com is good and
they also carry refill kits if you do not have any tools.

alotofthings.com carries empty cartridges made just for refilling as
well.

good luck and i would trash that tainted ink before it does some
clogging. Its obviously not up to snuff so i wouldnt trust it one bit.

Thanks, I have now got the colours fixed 95% correct. The magenta tank was
empty - no warning but I'm using 3rd.party tanks which are opaque. It
appears the warning system relies on some sort of light sensor shining
through the reservoir part of the tank when it's empty. They still go on
printing for a few more days though.

I'm still getting very fine white lines across the prints though: as if one
set of jets isn't firing at all. Lots of cleaning has not fixed it.

regards,
Richard

I had greenish skin tones. It was a bad printhead.

Sounds sort of like print head alignment

have you done a printhead alignment and then a nozzle test pattern?

Any breaks or missing lines in the nozzle test would tell you if
anything is clogged
