This is the worst printer I have ever had.
If I don't print something everyday, it dries up and will not
print. It then takes me an hour to get it going again.
I have sent it in to Canon and it still does this.

There are other problems as well.

I don't recommend it, or Canon to anyone.

I have the Canon i320, which is internally the same printer. I printed
something out a few days ago, and prior to that I didn't print something for
a few months. It came out perfectly the first time. Let me ask you this:
Are you using generic or OEM ink? I'm using only OEM Canon ink and my
printer is fine. It's hooked up to a second computer so it doesn't get much
use -- so it's definitely a prime candidate for getting clogged, but thus
far clogging has not been a problem.

OEM ink.
Canon doesn't seem to care about my problems. They just say they cleaned
it and all is well. NOT.

It's cheaper for me to throw it out than keep shipping it back and forth
and feel like I am talking to a brick wall.

They have made me feel like a nobody the way they talk to me on
the phone as if there is no problem or only a minor problem.

With them, the customer is not right and doesn't know a brick from a
piece of wood.

Long shot: Be sure the vent hole is open (remove the tape in case you forgot
to when installing the tank).

Next guess: Be sure the print head is parked before removing power.

It's discontinued anyway.

It's not really the same. The only same thing is the pwer cord and ink
tanks. I have both here, an both work pretty well for cheap printers.
(in my case free, got both given to me with various problems, the I
320 with waste full and clogged jets, now working pretty well, the
S200 works dandy, except the Magenta nozzels don't work at all)

If I were to buy a printer, I'd look into a higher end Canon.

I read in every message that there are issues.
I don't read anything saying their printer works without issue.
This is what I mean. A printer that doesn't print properly is not a printer.

They use the same printheads, so for what he is talking about (the printer
drying up) they are basically the same printer. Yes, the i320 is a bit
faster but they're pretty much the same. I would never use it as my primary
printer as I need to print lots of text and color documents. For lower
usage (like with my second computer), it's an excellent choice IMO.

Not the S200 and I320 I have here.

S200:

Head: <PPE+PS>
Contacts and single row of nozzles on the right of the head.
Aluminum substrate/heatsink.

Latch pulls head to the right.

Small pump, if any, below seal.

Simpler feed mechanism.

Mechanism practically one unit (from case)

No Power button

i320

Head: <PPE+PS-GF25>
contacts on the rear
4 separate rows of nozzles, the colour ones beside each other on the
left, the black on the right(

Latch lever straddles the head, pulls it the rear.

Has a dual tube pump (one for CMY, the other for K), driven from the
paper feed motor.

A bit complicated mechanism, have to practically disassemble to get at
waste ink pads.

Has optical strip, and power button (not on S200).

At the end of the day, for casual printing, they may work (and fail)
very similarly though.
