Have you got the drivers for this printer.Some of the older programs for 95 will not work regardless what you do.

Have you checked for updated drivers? I had the same problem with an HP
printer when I upgraded from W98 to XP. New drivers did the trick for me.
I'd start by going to Canon's website to search for any available XP drivers
for your printer.

You kept the printer connected during the upgrade. The drivers are
corrupted.
You need to COMPLETELY uninstall and then reinstall using the instructions
at

As the other posters have said, download the drivers for XP from the
Canon site, uninstall the drivers you have and install the new ones
following the advice of this page:
