I noticed that it's not available in US. I can only find MP140 and
MP150. As a result, I am not 100% sure whether ink cartridges for
MP140/MP150 could be used for MP145.

Cartridges: CL-41, PG-40

That is what I find when I search for cartridges for MP145.

The Pixma is a good, fast printer that I use in my Singapore office.
Better than the HP of similar price range, but of course you need to
be able to find either print cartridges or set up the Pixma with the
"wet ink" "tank" system, which is a cheat to save inkjet cartridges,
if you know what I mean.

You meant refilling cartridges? My sister tried them. The black ink
worked fine, but the color inks didn't work well with Excel (red, yellow
not sprayed correctly).

Yes, the refilling cartridges that have wet ink, are mounted on the
outside of the Pixma, and have tiny tubes going to the print heads
that carry the ink. I've never tried them, as I think the colors are
less vivid as you say, but it's cheaper and popular in for example
Thailand.
