Hi all,
are there any service manuals around for the Canon Pixma series?
I'd like to check how many pages where printed, using which ink.
Probably this info is not available?
I was told that the diagnostics may tell how many prints where done on
which kind of paper. Maybe that's not even hidden in some diagnostic
power/resume button dialogs, but within a service menu directly.
Did the service mode change for the Pixmas, such as the iP4000? I found
a warning that the same service mode as on former S / i series may block
the paper cassette feed:
Enter service mode:
1) turn of
2) press Resume; hold the button
3) turn Power on; hold the button
4) release Resume
5) push Resume twice
6) release Power
leave service mode: Push Power.
known modes:
* 1x Resume (LED becomes orange), 1x Power (confirmation): nozzle test and report
* 2x Resume, 1x Power: print head cleaning and report
newer printers, such as S750. Former BJC, S400, S450, S4500 show
this info in the "1x Resume" report
* 3x Resume, 1x Power: reset internal counters
probably not for new iP4200 'empty cartridge' dialogs.
* 4x Resume, 1x Power: reset waste ink full counter
You should exchange the sponge before. Current reports name
"D=" and 3+1 digits number. 100.0 is 100 % ful.
* 5x Resume, 1x Power: Destination setting
Now press resume several times in order to enable e.g. CD-R printing

4x Resume, 1x Power sets A4 paper (instead of letter) and CD-R support
(for first Pixmas, while iP4200/5200/... work different).
known diagnostics:
* 8x orange, 1x long green: waste ink tank is full
http://www.druckerchannel.de/artikel.php?ID=1091&seite=1 is a German
page how to exchange the sponge.
What do the reports mean?
Here's a guess:
V1.09 -> Firmware Version
USB1=1 -> connected to USB
1284=0 -> not connected to parallel port
ST -> Start Time; first time of operation
LPT -> Last Print Time
CLT -> Clean Time?
BK -> 3eBK nozzles
CL -> other colors
P_ON(S= -> Power on Switches
A..L -> print head alignment?
All -> all printed pages
PP -> Plain Paper
HR+MP -> High Resolution; Matte Paper?
PR+SP+SG -> ? / ? / Semi Gloss
GP -> Glossy Paper
PC -> ?
EV -> ?
UCPAGE -> from paper cassette
BPPAGE -> duplex print
CDPAGE -> CD print
Head Temp -> print head temperature
Env -> Environment Temperature
Any further correction and input is welcome.
Thanks,
Martin
